Welcome to the Parish of the Holy Redeemer in Huddersfield.  We are a large, ethnically diverse and welcoming Catholic Community serving the northern part of one of the largest towns in the North of England.

Huddersfield has a proud history, and central to this has been the presence of the Catholic church in one of the oldest missions (post Reformation) in the Diocese of Leeds.  Since the early 19th century, priest and people have been serving the people of this town, most notably the poorest and most forgotten of all the town’s inhabitants.  It was this radical witness that inspired a local landowner to give us the land on which to build the fine gothic church that is now St Patrick’s on New North Road.

Our forebears could only do this because of their firm conviction that Jesus Christ is the centre of all history and that He is still working through those who bear his name and try, daily, to align themselves on His model of sacrifice and service through their daily prayer and sacramental life within the parish.

We invite you to join with us in this mission of service which manifests itself in so many ways in this parish and in so doing find, as we are finding, that our hearts are more easily sated by service than greed or selfishness.
